According to New York Times,[5] Syed Mustafa Kamal has left Pakistan after developing differences with Altaf Hussain. The Muttahida Qaumi Movementannounced that Syed Mustafa Kamal submitted his resignation from Senateseat and left Pakistan due to personal and family reasons.[6]
On August 5th, 2015, it was reported in many media outlets that ex Mayor and former member MQM traveled to Islamabad to attend important meetings. This was reportedly his first come back visit. Mustafa Kamal after leaving the political party, joined Malik Riaz’s company Bahria Town. [
Foreign Policy magazine[edit]
In 2008, some Pakistani newspapers published articles claiming that foreignpolicy.com had named Karachi’s mayor, Mustafa Kamal, "the second best mayor in the world." Foreign Policy editor Joshua Keating confirmed that reports were not true.[8]
Return to Pakistan[edit]
After leaving Pakistan in August 2013, He joined real estate tycoon Malik Riaz and started working for him. He was brought back from Dubai to Karachi with assurance and open handed by the authorities on March 3rd, 2016, accompanying Anees Kaimkhani and holding a press conference at a more than quarter million Rs a month rented mention in Karachi's posh area Defense Phase VI on the same day at 3:00 PM.
Mustafa Kamal divided his speech into three parts as following:
- Why did he leave the country?
- Why have they returned now and on at whose assurance?
- Now that thee have returned, what will he do, how they will be supported?
In the first two parts, he regret for having his life-long personal experiences as a prominent member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and further regret for being Mayor or Karachi's Nazim under MQM, because all fame and respect was thrugh MQM and nothig was from him.
He managed several controversies surrounding MQM, the leader Altaf Hussain, his boss Malik Riaz and his behavior towards the employees. He felt bad that all of his fame in the country was because of MQM and which . he in past admited openly in media, but what to say now he has good opportunity to make the most out of it.
In the last part, Mustafa Kamal disclosed the version of a new party as told to lay foundations of, the name of which is not decided yet, it will be told soon once decided and approved by the boses. According to him, "Today upto this much we know so we are laying the foundation of an organisation, later as soon as we get more we will do more, so you may call it a party. We are just two individuals, but there is a big team behind to make us work myself and Anees Qaimkhani."
Talking some philosophy, he revealed the flag of his party which turned out to be the Flag of Pakistan . He got emotional talking about how the nation is divided and he want to break it further, instead he wants to unite it.[9][10][11][12]
