Larkana (Urdu: لاڑکانہ Sindhi: لاڙڪاڻو [laːɽkaːnoː] is a city in the north-west of the Sindh province of Pakistan, where the historic Indus River flows in south of the city.[2] It is the 17th largest city of Pakistan.[3] As of 2015, the city's population stands at 2,666,071.[4] Home to world's most ancient archeological site of Indus Valley Civilization called Mohenjo-daro which is larger in size and area than Babylonia and Assyria.[5]
The city is located within Larkana District. Formerly known as 'Chandka', Larkana is located on the south bank of "Ghar canal", about 40 miles (64 km) south of the town Shikarpur, and 36 miles (58 km) north east ofMehar.[6]
